Overview

Released in 2025 starring Sophie Thatcher (Yellowjackets) and Jack Quaid (The Boys and Star Trek: Lower Decks). Co-Starring Lukas Gage, Megan Suri, and Harvey Guillen(What We Do in the Shadows). Written and directed by Drew Hancock.

Companion is the story of a group of friends hanging out during a weekend getaway. Bloody shenanigans ensue when one of the guest’s android companion kills someone.

Review

Companion is a dark comedy thriller with a little sci-fi mixed in. It is funny, fast paced, and leaves little for the audience to think about, though it is anything up braindead.

While Companion may center around an android killing people, the gore is very much on the lighter side of things.

All the actors in the movie play their characters well, fitting perfectly into the roles they were cast for. Sophie Thatcher as the android Iris really shined amongst the crowd of actors. Lukas Gage, someone I don’t recognize from anything I have seen, also did a great job with one of the more complex characters.

Should you watch it

Companion is a straightforward Saturday night popcorn movie that you can enjoy alone while browsing on your phone or with friends. It should be on an avid movie watchers list, though you should probably leave the kids out of this one.
